From CBS News: The White House has withdrawn President Trump’s nomination of Dr. Janette Nesheiwat for U.S. surgeon general, and Mr. Trump announced a new pick on social media Wednesday.
Nesheiwat’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee had been scheduled for Thursday. The office of Sen. Bernie Sanders, the ranking Democrat on the committee, confirmed earlier Wednesday that her nomination was being withdrawn.
Mr. Trump posted that he intended to nominate Dr. Casey Means to be surgeon general, touting her “MAHA,” or Make America Healthy Again, credentials. Means, an entrepreneur and wellness influencer, is close to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and was favored among Kennedy’s allies to be picked over Neshiewat.
Neshiewat’s withdrawal follows questions about how she has portrayed her education and credentials on social media and in past media appearances.
In a Truth Social post Wednesday afternoon, President Trump released the following statement:
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Casey Means, will be nominated as our next Surgeon General of the United States of America.
Casey has impeccable “MAHA” credentials, and will work closely with our wonderful Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to ensure a successful implementation of our Agenda in order to reverse the Chronic Disease Epidemic, and ensure Great Health, in the future, for ALL Americans.
Her academic achievements, together with her life’s work, are absolutely outstanding. Dr. Casey Means has the potential to be one of the finest Surgeon Generals in United States History. Congratulations to Casey! Secretary Kennedy looks forward to working with Dr. Janette Nesheiwat in another capacity at HHS. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
After President Trump pulled her nomination, Nesheiwat said in a statement on X, “I am looking forward to continuing to support President Trump and working closely with Secretary Kennedy in a senior policy role to Make America Healthy Again! My focus continues to be on improving the health and well-being of all Americans, and that mission hasn’t changed.”

Ladies and gentlemen, meet President Trump’s new United States Surgeon General nominee, Dr. Casey Means:

The big shakeup comes after journalist Laura Loomer had voiced her concerns about Nesheiwat’s credentials in a major exposé. She wrote:
Unvetted Trump Nominee For US Surgeon Genera Unable to Differentiate Between a Foreign Object and an Infection
The vetting crisis in the Trump administration continues to reveal itself on a daily basis as new Senate confirmation hearings for Trump nominees approach. Each week, @LoomerUnleashed is helping the American people understand the extent of the lack of vetting in the current Trump admin.
This Thursday, May 8, 2025, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, the sister-in-law of former National Security Council Advisor Michael Waltz @MikeWaltz47, and controversial Trump nominated Surgeon General, is going before the US Senate for her confirmation hearing.
In our exclusive investigation, we have discovered that @DoctorJanette Dr. Janette Nesheiwat is currently entangled in an intricate medical malpractice litigation, that has been ongoing since November 2021. This case remains unresolved and is currently in progress.
Based on the “Verified Bill of Particulars” in the New York lawsuit “Alison Rudansky v. City M.D. and Janette Nieshawat, M.D.”, Dr. Janette Nieshawat is accused of committing medical malpractice during her treatment of the plaintiff on May 31, 2019. The allegations detail a series of significant departures from accepted standards of medical practice, particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of the plaintiff’s right index finger condition. Key points of malpractice include:
‼️ Misdiagnosis and Failure to Differentiate:
Dr. Nieshawat allegedly misdiagnosed the plaintiff’s condition as involving a foreign object under the fingernail, despite evidence suggesting it was more likely an infection. She failed to recognize the absence of clinical signs such as fluctuance, induration, abscess, or purulence, which are critical for distinguishing between an infection and a foreign body, leading to an inappropriate treatment plan.
‼️ Unnecessary and Contraindicated Surgery:
She is accused of performing an incision and drainage (I&D) procedure without reasonable indication, lacking pre-procedure ultrasound or MRI investigations to confirm her diagnosis. The surgery was described as contraindicated, unnecessary, and improperly executed, involving excessive excavation of soft tissue and disruption of neural networks, which caused severe complications.
‼️ Failure of Informed Consent:
Dr. Nieshawat is accused of violating New York Public Health Law § 2805-d by not informing the plaintiff of the risks of the procedure or providing alternatives, such as continuing antibiotic therapy. This denied the plaintiff the ability to make an informed decision.
‼️ Negligent Technique and Judgment:
The suit alleges Dr. Janette Nesheiwat
used excessive force and depth during the I&D, removed too much tissue, skin, and fascia, and failed to properly cleanse, irrigate, or bandage the site post-procedure. She also discontinued appropriate antibiotics prematurely and substituted inadequate ones, worsening the condition.‼️ Inadequate Follow-Up and Referral:
Dr. Nieshawat allegedly did not provide proper discharge instructions, arrange follow-up care, or refer the plaintiff to a hand surgeon or emergency room despite the worsening condition. She also failed to consult prior treaters or review medical records from the May 29 visit at City MD.
In conclusion, we believe Dr. Janette Nesheiwat’s allegations of medical malpractice, promotion of DEI-focused initiatives implemented through City M.D., and her advocacy for the China Virus “vaccine” as recently as November 2024 (despite evidence that it causes severe health risks and doesn’t prevent the spread of COVID) render her unfit for the role of United States Surgeon General, and she should not be confirmed by the US Senate to hold the position.

In another post, Loomer continued:
We really need a new nominee for US Surgeon General. I know @realDonaldTrump likes people who go on TV for some weird reason I will never understand (I still love him), but we can’t have a pro-COVID vaccine nepo appointee who is currently embroiled in a medical malpractice case and who didn’t go to medical school in the US as the US Surgeon General. She is now being accused of lying about her medical credentials.
In a screenshot below, @DoctorJanette said “Vaccine hesitancy is a Global health threat.”
She used her access to Fox News to promote the dangerous Covid vaccine, which is now killing millions of people. She tried to shame people who didn’t take the vaccine by calling them global health threats.
Vaccines are a matter of PERSONAL HEALTH FREEDOM. “Vaccine hesitancy” is a matter of PERSONAL FREEDOM AND LIBERTY! It is not a Global Health Threat. MY BODY MY CHOICE!
I genuinely wish we had a different nominee that was more aligned with personal liberties.
Vaccines Cause Autism. Even Donald Trump knows this. That’s why he has directed his new admin and his HHS secretary @RobertKennedyJr to INVESTIGATE the link between vaccines and autism.
@DoctorJanette thinks “vaccine hesitancy” is a GLOBAL HEALTH THREAT. By her own logic, President Donald Trump and @RobertKennedyJr are GLOBAL HEALTH THREATS because they are challenging the safety of childhood vaccines.
@DoctorJanette is not ideologically aligned with Donald Trump or his admin’s health initiatives. The DOD is now giving back pay to armed service members who were let go because they didn’t take the COVID JAB. They are now rightfully receiving back pay reparations for wrongful termination over their refusal to take an experimental DNA modifier. According to @DoctorJanette, these service members are GLOBAL HEALTH THREATS.
How can she be confirmed in front of the US Senate on Thursday? She can’t. We need a new nominee for US Surgeon General!
