President-elect Donald Trump, 78, announced Thursday his intent to nominate Doug Burgum as Secretary of the Department of the Interior, with a formal announcement expected Friday.
“He’s going to head the Department of Interior and he’s going to be fantastic,” Trump said of the North Dakota governor.
The Interior Secretary’s role will grant the North Dakota governor considerable influence over domestic energy production initiatives. Trump revealed his decision Thursday night at a gala at his Mar-a-Lago resort in South Florida.
