Tulsi Gabbard, the former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii who became an Independent in 2022, is endorsing former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race against Vice President Kamala Harris.

Gabbard, who served Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2021, left the Democratic Party after criticizing it as an “elitist cabal of warmongers.” She previously ran against Harris in the 2019 Democratic primary and has been recruited by Trump for debate preparation ahead of his September 10 debate with Harris at the National Constitutional Center in Philadelphia.

During a Democratic primary debate, Gabbard criticized Harris for her record on marijuana convictions and her contradictory remarks about the drug.

Since leaving the Democratic Party, Gabbard has been a vocal critic of it, participating in conservative events like the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and the Faith and Freedom Coalition Road to Majority Conference.

The endorsement follows Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to suspend his 2024 Independent presidential bid and endorse Trump. Kennedy cited the Democratic Party’s “continuous legal attacks” on Trump and himself and criticized the party’s primary process. He announced he would campaign with Trump until the election.

Trump announced Gabbard’s endorsement during a rally in Detroit, Michigan before introducing her to the stage to speak; see below:
