Amid all the speculation about who will serve in a new Trump administration and who will fill key Cabinet positions, President-elect Donald Trump has just put to rest any questions about two people from his previous administration.
Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo are OUT.
Haley served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018. After the end of Trump’s term in office, Haley first stated that if Trump planned to run again, she would not against him. She later broke her word and engaged in a brutal Republican primary against Trump, before finally dropping out. Trump did allow her to speak at the Republican National Convention in July, and Haley did endorse Trump, but their primary feud was bitter.
Pompeo served as Secretary of State during the first Trump administration, but was later critical of Trump after he left office. He teased that he was considering running for president himself, but ultimately decided not to, and later endorsed Trump.
In a post on Truth Social Saturday evening, Trump announced:
“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation.
“I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
After Trump’s victory in Tuesday’s presidential election, Haley posted the following statement:
“The American people have spoken. Congratulations to President Trump on a strong win. Now, it’s time for the American people to come together, pray for our country, and start the process of a peaceful transition. That begins with Kamala Harris conceding. You can’t just talk about unity in a campaign, you have to show it regardless of the outcome.”

Pompeo also congratulated Trump on his win, writing, “Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on a sweeping victory! Americans want a safe, secure, and prosperous future, and with a Republican Senate and (hopefully) a Republican House, Donald Trump will make it happen.”
