President-elect Donald Trump announced in a social media post late Sunday night that he has officially chosen a ‘Border Czar’ to serve in his administration, which begins on January 20.
Trump campaigned on a promise to secure the border and deport illegal aliens, and he’s appointing former acting ICE director Tom Homan to get the job done.
Homan, 62, is a former police officer with a long resume of law enforcement and border security, which includes:
- Joined Immigrant and Naturalization Service in 1984
- Border Patrol Agent, investigator and supervisor
- Appointed by President Barack Obama to Executive Associate Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in 2013
- Obama gave him a Presidential Rank Award as a Distinguished Executive in 2015
- Served as acting ICE Director during Trump administration, from January 2017-June 2018.
Below is Trump’s announcement, just released late Sunday night:
“I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (“The Border Czar”), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security.
“I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.”

Homan was asked if there was any way to carry out mass deportations without separating families.

Homan spoke at the RNC convention in July and delivered two huge messages:
To all the illegal aliens who crossed the border during the Biden-Harris administration: “You better start packing now… cause you’re going home!”
To the Mexican drug cartels: “You’ve smuggled enough fentanyl across this country to kill 148,000 Americans… When Trump gets back in office, he’s going to designate you as a terrorist organization, and he’s going to wipe you off the face of the Earth! YOU’RE DONE, YOU’RE DONE!”
