From the Washington Post: The 22-year-old suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing appears to have confessed to friends in an online chat shortly before turning himself in to law enforcement, according to two people familiar with the chat and screenshots obtained by The Washington Post.

“Hey guys, I have bad news for you all,” said a message from an account belonging to the suspect, Tyler Robinson, on the online platform Discord. “It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.”

The message was sent Thursday night, about two hours before officials said Robinson was taken into custody.

A member of the group chat shared an image of the conversation with The Post and confirmed that it came from Robinson’s account. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect their privacy and out of fear of harassment.

The report notes that, according to a source familiar with the situation, Discord has turned over a copy of the message with the confession to investigators.

The source said the confession message was sent from Robinson’s Discord account to a small private group of online friends.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed earlier Monday that they were investigating the Discord group chat.

A previous report on Sunday revealed that Robinson had joked with friends on Discord about the assassination. One of his friends had noticed that the images released by the FBI looked similar to Robinson, and had tagged him in a post along with the question “wya” – short for “where you at?”

Robinson jokingly responded that it was a look-alike trying to “get me in trouble.”

Another person in the small group joked about cashing in on the $100,000 reward being offered for information on the killer, and Robinson had replied, “Only if I get a cut.”
