From NY Post: A child is in critical condition after at least five people were shot Saturday during a Mardi Gras parade in Louisiana, officials said.
The 6-year-old, whose gender was not immediately known, was struck in the leg multiple times and airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge where they are listed in critical condition, local outlet Unfiltered with Kiran reported.
An adult was also in critical condition and airlifted to a Baton Rouge hospital, while two others were taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition, per the outlet.
The 21st annual “Mardi Gras in the Country” parade had just started when the gunfire broke out, according to East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeff Travis.
The parade was swiftly shut down by authorities.
Three suspects were taken into custody, according to Travis.
