Three people were killed and eight injured in a shooting during a trail ride after a homecoming football game in Holmes County, Mississippi, early Saturday, according to WJTV.
Sheriff Willie March reported the incident occurred shortly after midnight following the Holmes County Consolidated School’s homecoming. March stated that some injured victims were airlifted to a hospital while others were taken by ambulance. Authorities are still searching for suspects, with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation assisting in the case.
The sheriff identified the three victims as 25-year-old Martel Gibson, 19-year-old Shundra Chestnut, and 19-year-old John Jenkins.
Investigators believe the suspect acted with a switch on their gun. Law enforcement is asking anyone with information to contact the Holmes County sheriff’s office or crime stoppers.
