Police have now identified the gunman who opened fire on a classroom at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island last Saturday, killing two students and wounding nine others.

They reportedly have a warrant out for the gunman’s arrest and are seeking to arrest him.  The suspect’s identity has not yet been released to the public.

Police are also reportedly looking at a potential link between the university shooting, and the deadly shooting of a prominent MIT nuclear science professor, Nuno Loureiro, 47, who was found shot dead in his Massachusetts condo Monday night.

Fox News correspondent Brooke Taylor announced on X, “BREAKING: Providence Police have identified the suspected Brown University shooter and have a warrant, according to my sources. Police are also investigating a possible link now between Brown University shooting and the murder of an MIT professor.”

Fox News contributor Paul Mauro said Thursday morning sources told him that live ammunition was found at the shooting scene at Brown University.

The Providence police chief also confirmed that investigators recovered physical evidence, including DNA, at the Brown University shooting scene that police are working to process.

Killed in the university shooting were students Ella Cook, 19, a sophomore from Alabama who served as the vice president of the university’s College Republicans chapter, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, 18, an Uzbek American freshman.

Police had planned for a press conference at 4:00 ET Thursday, but have now delayed it.
