Police in Madison, Wisconsin are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday morning at a K-12 private Christian school. The shooting reportedly happened just before 11 a.m., at the Abundant Life Christian School.

Multiple people have reportedly been injured, and roads surrounding the school have been closed off while police are responding.

ABC News reported that, according to Madison police, the shooter is “down.”

The Madison Police Department has clarified that 3 people are deceased, including the shooter, and 6 others are injured.

When police arrived, they found the shooter already dead, but would only say during a press briefing that the shooter is a juvenile.

The police chief said at the time of the shooting, officers were actually participating in a training exercise about 3 miles away, and went straight from the training to the school.

This is a developing story – check back for updates.

In a Facebook post at 2:00 pm, the Madison Police Department wrote:

Shooting update: At this time, three people are deceased. During the media briefing earlier this afternoon, it was erroneously shared 5 were deceased.
Again, three people are deceased. Nine in total were injured, including the three deceased.

Parents and guardians should go to the Dean Clinic 1821 S. Stoughton Road for reunification. The next media briefing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Fire Station 14 at 3201 Dairy Dr.
