From the New York Post: A chilling photo shows a suspected gunman grinning widely days before he calmly executed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Midtown hotel Wednesday.
The photo – the first to show the alleged masked assassin’s face – was released by the NYPD Thursday as a desperate manhunt for the cold-blooded killer led authorities to an Upper West Side youth hostel, where they believe he stayed before the shocking killing.
The gunman, who checked into the HI New York City Hostel with a fake New Jersey ID, only pulled down his mask because he was “flirting” with the receptionist and she asked to see his face, law enforcement sources told The Post.
The NYPD posted the two new photos on social media, along with the following statement:
UPDATE: Below are photos of a person of interest wanted for questioning regarding the Midtown Manhattan homicide on Dec. 4. This does not appear to be a random act of violence; all indications are that it was a premeditated, targeted attack.
The full investigative efforts of the NYPD are continuing, and we are asking for the public’s help—if you have any information about this case, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). There is a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

The man appears to be wearing a different hooded jacket, and possibly a different backpack, in the new photos, than the one he was wearing at the time of the shooting.
