President-elect Donald Trump has released a statement in reaction to the deadly massacre that occurred in New Orleans.

While a large crowd was celebrating the New Year on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana, a man intentionally drove a white pickup truck into the crowd at a high rate of speed, killing 10 and injuring at least 35 others.

Authorities have confirmed that the pickup truck used to commit the horrific massacre was seen crossing the border from Mexico at Eagle Pass, Texas on November 16.  (It was first reported that the truck crossed the border two days ago.)  The pickup has a Texas license plate.

Fox News just reported that authorities have stated that the person who drove the truck across the border in November does not appear to be the same person who used it drive into the crowd on Bourbon Street.

The driver was killed in a shootout with police after he plowed the truck into the crowd.  His identity is still unknown.

The FBI has announced they are investigating the massacre as an act of terrorism.

Trump released the following statement on social media Wednesday morning:

When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before.

Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!

A photo has been posted on social media of the driver of the truck, after he was shot by police. He appears to be wearing camouflage clothing.
