From the New York Post: Christine Pelosi won’t run for her mother’s open congressional seat, ending speculation of a possible Pelosi dynasty in the House of Representatives.
The younger Pelosi, 59, announced on Monday that she’d run for California’s state Senate instead, opening the field for a competitive Democratic congressional primary in 2026.
“In courtrooms, campaigns and corridors of power, I’ve fought to build Power For The People. And that’s why I’m running for California Senate,” Christine said in her Monday announcement.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 85, announced last Thursday that she will not run for re-election in 2026, which will finally end a 40-year career in the U.S. Congress.
Christine Pelosi is going after the California state senate seat currently occupied by radical Democrat state senator Scott Wiener, an openly gay man, who has announced HE is running for Nancy Pelosi’s seat in U.S. Congress.
Politico reporter Jeremy White observed, “For years ppl assumed @sfpelosi would try to succeed her mother @SpeakerPelosi in Congress, but instead she’s going for the Senate seat would-be Pelosi successor @Scott_Wiener holds.

Wiener had announced on October 22 that he was running for Pelosi’s seat, which indicates he likely already knew she would retiring.
