Iconic actor James Earl Jones passed away on Monday at 93.
Known for his roles in “Field of Dreams” and “The Great White Hope,” Jones was celebrated for his distinctive voice, famously voicing Darth Vader in “Star Wars” and Mufasa in “The Lion King.” He also recently reprised his role as Mufasa in Disney’s CG reimagining of “The Lion King.”
Over a career spanning more than 60 years, he earned an Emmy, Grammy, honorary Oscar, and Tony, though not officially an EGOT winner.
Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the ’90s, Jones managed the condition through a balanced diet, exercise, and mental health care. He is survived by his son, Flynn Earl Jones, from his second marriage.
James Earl Jones passed away on Monday morning at his New York home, surrounded by family, his representatives confirmed. The cause of death has not yet been released.
