BREAKING: JFK’s grandson announces run for US Congress seat, scrubs social media

From ABC News: Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, announced late Tuesday that he would run for Congress in 2026.

Schlossberg, 32, said he would seek a seat representing New York’s 12th congressional district, which is held by Rep. Jerry Nadler, who announced in September that he wouldn’t run for reelection.

Schlossberg positioned his run as a response in part to the economic agenda put forth by Republicans and President Donald Trump, including Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” which Schlossberg said had led to a “cost of living crisis” with historic “cuts to social programs working families rely on. Health care, education, child care.”

“We deserve better, and we can do better, and it starts with the Democratic Party winning back control of the House of Representatives,” Schlossberg, whose full name is John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg, said on Instagram as he announced his run.

Schlossberg wildly claimed that unless Democrats get back control of the House, “we’re helpless to a third term.”

President Trump has already acknowledged that he cannot run for a third term.

In his video announcement on Instagram, Schlossberg wrote:

A cost of living crisis sponsored by the Big Beautiful Bill. Historic cuts to social programs working families rely on. Health care, education, child care. It’s a corruption crisis. The President has made almost a billion dollars this year. He’s picking winners and losers from inside the Oval Office. It’s cronyism, not capitalism.

It’s a constitutional crisis with one dangerous man in control of all three branches of government. He’s stripping citizens of their civil rights and silencing his critics. The worst part is: it doesn’t have to be this way. And it wasn’t, always.

We deserve better, and we can do better, and it starts with the Democratic Party winning back control of the House of Representatives. With control of Congress, there’s nothing we can’t do. Without it, we’re helpless to a third term.

My name is Jack Schlossberg, and I’m running for Congress to represent my home, New York’s 12th congressional district, where I was born and raised, where I took the bus to school every single day from one side of the district to the other.

Prior to announcing his congressional campaign, Schlossberg has scrubbed his Instagram account, deleting a slew of controversial and radical posts.

In August, he had donned a blonde wig and mocked First Lady Melania Trump in at least two appalling videos. He mimicked her accent and made fun of her letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin appealing for the children stolen from Ukraine to be returned.

Those videos are both now gone from his Instagram account. However, the internet is forever, and the video is still circulating on social media.

This is the man who is now running for U.S. Congress.

In January 2025, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk had slammed Schlossberg for posting a video mocking his mother’s cousin, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. for his voice disability.

That video has been scrubbed from Schlossberg’s account as well.

Kirk had written:

Here’s JFK’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, posting a video mocking RFK Jr’s spasmodic dysphonia. Classy.

The Kennedys were a great American family who faced a choice – they could continue their legacy as statesmen, or they could devolve into useless trust fund babies good for nothing but tabloid fodder. Most chose the latter.

RFK Jr. chose differently. If it weren’t for him, the Kennedy legacy would be completely dead. So it’s fitting that his family has turned on the last true Kennedy and are attempting to destroy him. With each new attack, he continues to respond with grace and kindness.

Good thing most Americans just ignore the rest of them now.

Two weeks ago, Schlossberg posted an old photo of his late uncle, John F. Kennedy, Jr., at the White House Rose Garden as a little boy, and claimed that Trump had destroyed his grandmother’s Rose Garden.

“Where she planted flowers, he poured concrete,” he claimed. In reality, the flowers remained. Trump only replaced the grassy lawn in the middle and installed stone pavers.
