From the Associated Press: TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — The Israeli military said Tuesday it carried out a strike on Beirut targeting the militant commander allegedly behind the deaths of 12 children and teens in a rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights over the weekend.
Israel has blamed the rocket attack on the Hezbollah militant group, which has denied any role in the attack
A Hezbollah official and the group’s TV station said that an Israeli airstrike hit Hezbollah’s stronghold south of Beirut on Tuesday evening, causing damage.
The airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburb of Haret Hreik damaged several buildings but it was not immediately clear if any Hezbollah official was targeted, the Hezbollah official said on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
The IDF announced in a social media post, “Initial report- the IDF carried out a targeted strike in Beirut, on the commander responsible for the murder of the children in Majdal Shams and the killing of numerous additional Israeli civilians. At the moment, there are no changes in the Home Front Command defensive guidelines. If any changes will be made, an update will be released. Details to follow.”

Just hours earlier, the IDF had announced, “There seems to be no end to Hezbollah’s dedication to terrorizing the civilians living in northern Israel. Today, approx. 10 projectiles were launched from Lebanon into northern Israel, the attack left a civilian dead. Only a few days after the Majdal Shams massacre that took the lives of 12 innocent children, Hezbollah once again proves that they show no remorse.”
