In Germany, the liberals are DEFEATED, conservatives have WON, and a “far-right” conservative party that many completely dismissed has now escalated to second place.
From the Daily Mail: Germany’s hard right AfD has surged to second place in the snap election with the conservative opposition emerging as the largest party overall.
The exit poll suggests the conservative CDU has topped today’s ballot securing 28.5 per cent of the vote while the AfD have taken 20 per cent which is the strongest showing for a far-right party in Germany’s post war era.
The AfD are already celebrating the result with their leader Alice Weidel claiming that the anti-migrant party was now ‘firmly anchored’ in mainstream German politics.
Meanwhile the governing centre-left SPD has slumped to third place in what looks set to be a disastrous result for Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s party.
Germany’s conservative opposition leader Friedrich Merz, 69, of the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU), won the election Sunday. He is expected to take a strong position against immigration into Germany, although not as hard as the AfD wanted to do.
Fox News explained: Merz has said he will execute a 15-point plan to tackle immigration, including tightening the borders and deporting rejected asylum seekers. AfD wants to deport migrants en masse.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz of the liberal Social Democrat Party (SPD) came in third place at just 16%, in a crushing defeat. Scholz said in his concession speech, “This is a bitter election result for the Social Democratic Party, and it is also an election defeat.”

U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated the conservative flip in Germany. In a statement on Truth Social Sunday, he wrote:
LOOKS LIKE THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY IN GERMANY HAS WON THE VERY BIG AND HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ELECTION. MUCH LIKE THE USA, THE PEOPLE OF GERMANY GOT TIRED OF THE NO COMMON SENSE AGENDA, ESPECIALLY ON ENERGY AND IMMIGRATION, THAT HAS PREVAILED FOR SO MANY YEARS.
THIS IS A GREAT DAY FOR GERMANY, AND FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF A GENTLEMAN NAMED DONALD J. TRUMP. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL — MANY MORE VICTORIES TO FOLLOW!!!
Meanwhile, Alice Weidel, leader of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, won 20% of the vote, coming in at second place. The AfD is elated that they have jumped from 5th place in 2021 to 2nd place in 2025, and are now hopeful they will win in 2029.
The AfD are fed up with the Islamic terror attacks in their country and have loudly protested against all Muslim immigration.
🚨🇩🇪 ALICE WEIDEL – FIRST ELECTION REMARKS‼️
We are PROUD of the historic result that the AfD achieved.
There is a lot of work ahead of us.But this is just the beginning.
