From The Hill: Former FBI Director James Comey has pleaded not guilty to charges linked to his 2020 congressional testimony about the bureau’s investigation into Russian ties to President Trump’s 2016 campaign.

He appeared Wednesday morning before U.S. District Judge Michael Nachmanoff for his arraignment in federal court in Alexandria, Va., where no cameras or other electronics were allowed inside the courthouse to document the high-profile hearing.

The two-count indictment against Comey followed a pressure campaign by Trump, who has incessantly vowed retribution against his foes and is increasingly urging his Justice Department to prosecute them.

Comey is accused of falsely claiming during a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee that he did not authorize a leak to news media about the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton and the Trump-Russia probe.

CBS News correspondent Scott MacFarlane shared updates on the courtroom proceedings:

MacFarlane announced:

First oral argument Nov 19. A very tentative trial date is week of Jan 5, 2026. Very unlikely.

Comey’s defense lawyer, Pat Fitzgerald, does not have a security clearance. Nor does James Comey! The judge ordered the Justice Dept to work on getting them security clearances as soon as possible.

Comey was allowed to sneak into the courthouse through another door Wednesday morning, avoiding the front door where he would be seen.

Journalist Breanna Morello commented on Tuesday, “James Comey will be arraigned tomorrow. Must be nice to stroll into the courthouse rather than having your door banged on at 6AM by armed agents…”

Last week, Sen. Rand Paul blasted the double standard, comparing the case against Comey to the way former Trump advisor Roger Stone was treated.

“If you’re outraged over the indictment of James Comey but were silent when Roger Stone was dragged out of bed for the same charges, you’re not for justice. You’re for partisan lawfare. We need one standard for all, not one for Republicans and another for Democrats,” Paul declared.

Stone also wrote last week, “James Comey and I were charged with the exact same crimes . Why did 29 heavily armed FBI agents storm my home at 6 AM to arrest me after tipping off CNN while James Comey still has not voluntarily surrendered for his arrest and has until October 9 to do so?”

Below is a video compilation of statements Comey made under oath that he has now been charged for:
