Republicans raked in two major wins in the Florida special election on Tuesday, retaining both seats in the U.S. Congress.

Jimmy Patronis easily won his race for U.S. Congress in Florida’s 1st Congressional District, to fill the seat vacated by former Rep. Matt Gaetz. (Patronis is the former Florida chief financial officer under Gov. Ron DeSantis.) Patronis defeated his Democrat opponent Gay Valimont, 57% to 42%, despite the Valimont raised $6.5 million, compared to his $2.1 million.

Randy Fine, a former Florida state Senator, also won the U.S. Congress seat in Florida’s 6th Congressional Distric, to fill the seat vacated by former Rep. Michael Waltz, who is now serving in the Trump administration as the National Security Advisor.  Fine earned over 56% of the vote, compared to 42% for his Democrat opponent, Josh Weil.

President Trump cheered both victories in a post on Truth Social.

“BOTH FLORIDA HOUSE SEATS HAVE BEEN WON, BIG, BY THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE. THE TRUMP ENDORSEMENT, AS ALWAYS, PROVED FAR GREATER THAN THE DEMOCRATS FORCES OF EVIL. CONGRATULATIONS TO AMERICA!!!” he wrote.

Republican activist Scott Presler wrote, “Democrats spent $10 million in Florida to lose by 11%. Congratulations to Congressman-Elect Randy Fine!”
