From the New York Post: The Federal Emergency Management Agency supervisor accused of ordering her subordinates to skip Florida homes with Trump campaign signs has been fired.

Marn’i Washington was sacked for telling disaster relief workers in Lake Placid, Fla., to “not go to homes with yard signs supporting President-elect Trump,” FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell said Saturday.

The disturbing directive was allegedly made in late October, as Washington, 39, worked with a FEMA team in the central Florida town in the wake of Hurricane Milton.

Criswell released her statement in a series of social media posts Saturday. She wrote:

More than 22,000 FEMA employees every day adhere to FEMA’s core values and are dedicated to helping people before, during and after disasters, often sacrificing time with their own families to help disaster survivors.

Recently, a FEMA employee departed from these values to advise her survivor assistance team to not go to homes with yard signs supporting President-elect Trump. This is a clear violation of FEMA’s core values & principles to help people regardless of their political affiliation.

This was reprehensible. I want to be clear to all of my employees and the American people, this type of behavior and action will not be tolerated at FEMA and we will hold people accountable if they violate these standards of conduct.

We take our mission to help everyone before, during and after disasters seriously. This employee has been terminated and we have referred the matter to the Office of Special Counsel. I will continue to do everything I can to make sure this never happens again.

The Daily Wire first reported on the shocking incident, and shared a screenshot of the memo sent to employees by Washington, which includes the following orders:

  • No one goes anywhere alone
  • Avoid homes advertising Trump
  • Practice de-escalation and preventative measures
  • Communicate and follow the rules

In reaction to the scandal, Rep. James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, just blasted out a letter demanding that Criswell testify before Congress at a hearing on November 19.

“FEMA has a responsibility to all Americans & @GOPoversight is committed to ensuring FEMA adheres to its disaster relief mission,” Comer declared.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna wrote, “This is not enough. Marn’i Washington MUST be held accountable and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!”

Donald Trump Jr. had voiced his outrage over the scandal. Friday evening, he wrote, “This is outrageous even for the democrats in charge and should be criminal. These people should be ousted from FEMA, Government and society! A full investigation is in order!”
