From ABC News: The FBI and New Orleans police no longer believe there are any other suspects involved in the New Year’s truck attack on Bourbon Street that killed 15 people and injured dozens more, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News.

After investigators reviewed all of the surveillance videos more closely, it appears that the suspect, 42-year-old Army veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar, placed explosive devices in the area himself and then changed clothes. Those clothes were found in the vehicle, the sources said.

The FBI is still investigating whether there were individuals Jabbar spoke to or messaged with prior to the early Wednesday attack, but no one was in the vicinity to help him do anything, the sources said.

Dr. Jeffrey Elder of the University Medical Center New Orleans told ABC News Thursday that the death toll is not expected to rise. He said there are 16 people still hospitalized, with 8 of those currently in intensive care.

During a press briefing Thursday morning, FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia clarified that the 15 deaths reported includes Jabbar, who was shot and killed by police when he began firing at them after he stopped his vehicle. Therefore, he said 14 victims were killed, and another 35 were injured.

Raia confirmed during the press conference Thursday that this was indeed a terrorist attack, said Jabbar was “100% inspired by ISIS” and confirmed that Jabbar acted alone in the attack.

He said Jabbar picked up the rented pickup on December 30, and then drove from Houston to New Orleans on the evening of Dec. 31. During his trip, he posted five videos online, proclaiming his support for ISIS.

In the first video, Jabbar explained that he originally intended to kill his family and friends, but was concerned that the news headlines would not focus on the “war between the believers and the disbelievers.”

In the video, Jabbar also stated that he joined ISIS prior to this summer, and provided a “will and testament,” Raia announced.

Raia confirmed police recovered an ISIS flag from the back of the truck Jabbar used to commit the attack. They also found two IEDs in coolers in the French Quarter area near the scene of the attack. Police obtained surveillance footage showing Jabbar placing the two devices where they were found, before he later drove his truck into the crowds. Multiple reports of other devices turned out to be misinformation.

Jabbar was born in the United States, and was a U.S. Army veteran. Raia urged anyone who served with Jabbar in the military to contact them, as well as anyone who was in the French Quarter during the attack, to aid the investigation as a witness.

Raia noted they are also looking at the Cybertruck explosion attack in Las Vegas, but said, so far, there is no definitive link between the two attacks.

Three phones and two laptops linked to Jabbar have been recovered by investigators.

Surveillance video has surfaced showing one moment from the attack, as terrified people run for their lives and barely escape Jabbar’s speeding truck.  Sadly, many others were not so lucky.

Ironically, while serving in the U.S. Army, Jabbar had received a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
