Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas will retain his U.S. Senate seat, having been declared the winner of his heated race against Democrat challenger, Rep. Colin Allred.
With 61% of the vote in, Cruz had 52.3% of the vote, compared to 45.7% for Allred.
Cruz, 53, as served in the U.S. Senate since 2013.
Allred is now OUT from the U.S. Congress as well.
