Late Wednesday night, a local NBC News station in Colorado announced that the driver of the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded at a Trump hotel in Las Vegas was from Colorado Springs.
Below is an excerpt from a report by KOAA.com: Sources confirmed to News5 Wednesday evening the driver of the Cybertruck in the Las Vegas explosion lived in Colorado Springs.
According to senior law enforcement sources, 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger was the driver and had several Colorado Springs addresses associated to him.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is at a townhouse complex, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
The complex is located on the east side of Colorado Springs in the Stetson Hills neighborhood. The FBI is at one of the addresses associated with Livelsberger.
Livelsberger reportedly rented the Cybertruck and left Colorado Springs on Monday, Dec. 30. He arrived in Las Vegas Wednesday morning, then drove to the Trump International Hotel, parked the truck and blew it up near the front door.
Livelsberger was killed in the explosion. During a press conference in Las Vegas Wednesday afternoon, officials showed video footage of the back of the charred Cybertruck, and revealed that the bed of the truck was loaded with gasoline and other fuel canisters, along with “large firework mortars,” turning the vehicle into one huge bomb on wheels.
Livelsberger reportedly rented the Cybertruck from the car rental company Turo. The pickup truck used in a deadly New Orleans terror attack the same day was also rented from Turo.
Independent journalist Kyle Becker posted a screenshot of a now-deleted LinkedIn profile which shows Livelsberger as serving in the U.S. Army for the past 19 years. Becker wrote:
Authorities have identified 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, a resident with ties to multiple addresses in Colorado Springs, as the driver of the Cybertruck involved in the Las Vegas explosion.
FBI agents, alongside the Colorado Springs Police Department, are actively investigating a townhouse complex in the Stetson Hills neighborhood, one of the locations linked to Livelsberger, per KOAA News5.
The suspect appears to be an intelligence manager and Green Beret veteran.
The LinkedIn profile would place Livelsberger as an Army enlistee at age 18. The veteran would have been close to retirement age. News5 reports that Livelsberger lived in Colorado Springs.
