Kamala Harris is poised to receive the Democrat nomination for President of the United States, without having gone through a single primary election.
From NBC News: Vice President Kamala Harris has won enough delegate votes to secure the Democratic presidential nomination, Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison announced Friday, though the results are not yet official.
The DNC will not make an official announcement of results until Monday evening, when the virtual voting process closes for delegates to next month’s Democratic National Convention.
Harris is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination after President Joe Biden dropped his re-election bid and endorsed her last month. Democrats threw together a new lightning-fast nomination process that allowed other candidates to compete, but no major Democrats threw their hats in the ring and the unknown candidates who submitted nomination papers failed to secure enough support to qualify for the internal ballot.
Harris would be the first Black woman and first Indian American in American history to secure a major party’s presidential nomination.
“I am so proud to confirm that Vice President Harris has earned more than a majority of votes from all convention delegates and will be the nominee of Democratic Party following the close of voting on Monday,” Harrison announced.

“If we want to save our country from a creepy former president and his weird sidekick, we have less than 100 days to get it done. The good news? We have a known winner leading us into battle—Vice President @KamalaHarris,” Harrison gloated.
He also touted that Harris will be “the first woman of color at the top of the ticket.”

Kamala just got the Democratic nomination. Did she run in any primaries in 2020 or 2024? No. Did she get one single vote from a real voter? No. Has the convention happened? No. Stop asking. Remember, Trump is the threat to "democracy."https://t.co/6H6UiPLfon
