BREAKING: Cop kills suspect near the Republican convention venue

From the Daily Mail: A police officer has shot and killed an individual a mile away from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

The cop from Columbus, Ohio, was in the city to help with the beefed-up security for the event after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump on Saturday.

The shooting occurred near North 14th and West Vliet Streets outside of the security perimeter, according to local reports.


According to witnesses, police shot the man in the back as he was walking across the street from a homeless encampment where he lived. The man had reportedly pulled out a knife.

The incident came just after a fight broke out between two men who were armed with knives.

Local police released the following statement:

“F.O.P. Lodge #9 has recently been made aware that members of the Columbus Division of Police were involved in an officer involved shooting at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this afternoon. F.O.P. Lodge #9 President Brian Steel has been in contact with the Wisconsin State F.O.P. President Ryan Windorff.

“No Officers have been injured however the condition of the suspect is currently unknown. Columbus Police Officers along with multiple officers from multiple jurisdictions nationwide are at the RNC to support Milwaukee police with security for the event.”
