New details have now surfaced revealing the assassination plot against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022 was much more serious than initially reported.
Not only did the suspect express the desire to kill THREE conservatives justices on the Court, but he has since come out as a TRANSGENDER, and wants to be called by a different name.
From CBS News: The California man who pleaded guilty to attempting to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022 aimed to kill three members of the high court in an effort to “single-handedly alter the constitutional order for ideological ends,” according to federal prosecutors.
The revelation by the Justice Department came in a sentencing memorandum filed Friday with the U.S. district court in Maryland in the case of Nicholas Roske. Roske was arrested near Kavanaugh’s home in early June 2022 with a handgun, ammunition, knife and a myriad of tools.
He pleaded guilty in April to attempting to kill or kidnap a Supreme Court justice. Prosecutors are asking a judge to sentence Roske to at least 30 years to life in prison, arguing that his conduct is an affront to the Constitution and required “extensive premeditation.”
“The defendant researched; planned; procured the tools for the planned killings; traveled across the entirety of the country with those tools, including a gun; and attempted to delete online evidence of motive and intent,” they wrote. “The defendant’s objective — to target and kill judges to seek to alter a court’s ruling — is an abhorrent form of terrorism and strikes at the core of the United States Constitution and our prescribed system of government.”
Early in the morning of June 8, 2022, Nicholas Roske was arrested near Kavanaugh’s home in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He reportedly carried with him a bag containing a Glock pistol, ammunition, a tactical knife, tools, duct tape and soft-soled boots that can be used to move quietly.
However, Roske actually triggered his own arrest, when he took a taxi to Kavanaugh’s neighborhood, and then chickened out on the plot, calling 911 and confessing what he had planned to do.
Roske had hatched up his plan after a draft was leaked out, indicating the Supreme Court had voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, which they later did.
The Justice Department has revealed multiple incriminating posts by Roske on social media, as well as chilling Google searches which give clues to his intentions.
In multiple posts in May, Roske speculated that if Kavanaugh, or “one conservative justice,” died, that would eliminate the conservative majority on the Court.
On May 27, Roske wrote, “im gonna stop roe v wade from being overturned.” When questioned, he replied that he intended to “remove some people from the supreme court.”
In another post, he wrote, “Yeah but i could get at least one, which would change the votes for decades to come. and I am shooting for 3.”
He did a Google search for “countries least likely to extradite to the US,” indicating he intended to flee the country. He also searched on Google for “most effective way to kill someone silently,” and multiple gruesome searches about different methods to stab someone.

Also on Friday, the Daily Wire has exclusively reportedly on a filing by Roske’s defense attorneys (document 93) which reveals that Roske is a transgender, and now identifies as “Sophie Roske.”
From the Daily Wire: The man who attempted to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh identifies as a transgender woman and was deeply mentally ill and suicidal, according to court documents first obtained by The Daily Wire.
The Department of Justice is recommending that the defendant, 29-year-old Nicholas Roske, be sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempting to kill the Supreme Court justice in 2022, according to a Friday filing outlining the case against Roske. Roske pled guilty to the attempt to kill a United States Supreme Court Justice in April 2025, three years after authorities arrested him in Kavanaugh’s neighborhood, carrying a bag full of weapons and burglary tools.
A filing from Roske’s defense attorneys shows that Roske now goes by “Sophie Roske” and that his legal team will refer to him using female pronouns. A footnote on the filing, obtained exclusively by The Daily Wire, explains that the defense will not use Roske’s legal name “out of respect” for the would-be assassin.
A source reportedly told the Daily Wire that Roske was identifying as a female online before the attempted murder, and now goes by the female name reflected in the defense filings.
