From Fox Business: Apple dropped ICEBlock, a widely used tracking tool, from its App Store Thursday after the Department of Justice raised concerns with the big tech giant that the app put law enforcement officers at risk.
DOJ officials, at the direction of Attorney General Pam Bondi, asked Apple to take down ICEBlock, a move that comes as Trump administration officials have claimed the tool, which allows users to anonymously report ICE agents’ presence, puts agents in danger and helps shield illegal immigrants.
“We reached out to Apple today demanding they remove the ICEBlock app from their App Store — and Apple did so,” Bondi said.
“ICEBlock is designed to put ICE agents at risk just for doing their jobs, and violence against law enforcement is an intolerable red line that cannot be crossed. This Department of Justice will continue making every effort to protect our brave federal law enforcement officers, who risk their lives every day to keep Americans safe.”
“We created the App Store to be a safe and trusted place to discover apps,” Apple said in a statement to NBC News. “Based on information we’ve received from law enforcement about the safety risks associated with ICEBlock, we have removed it and similar apps from the App Store.”
NBC News had literally promoted the app in a lengthy article in July.
Investigative journalist Laura Loomer cheered after Apple pulled the app from their store. She wrote:
Less than 48 hours after I published my expose about the @USArmy’s leading lab researcher who founded an ICE tracking app and I did a show exposing @Apple and @Google for undermining President Trump’s immigration policies and sent evidence to the White House and DOJ of Big Tech hosting ICE @ICEgov tracking apps in the Apple and Google stores, APPLE has just removed the ICE tracking apps from the Apple App Store!
And, Nicholas Waytowich has been FIRED from the @USArmy lab. 👏
Your move, @Google!
Thank you for your attention to this matter, @tim_cook!
And thank you @AGPamBondi @SecArmy @SecWar

Loomer is now putting pressure on Google to yank the app from there online app store as well.
Here’s evidence these 4 ICE tracking apps are still in the Google Play store.

The DOJ had to force the issue. Apple had no choice, so don’t give them credit. Now Google must remove it too. This is taking way too long.”
