BREAKING: Actor Timothy Busfield turns himself in to police, vows to fight child sex abuse accusations

From Fox NewsDays after authorities in New Mexico issued an arrest warrant for “Thirtysomething” alum Timothy Busfield on child sex abuse charges, the 68-year-old actor has turned himself into police.

“Timothy Busfield has turned himself in at the Metro Detention Center,” Gilbert Gallegos, director of communications for the Albuquerque Police Department, told Fox News Digital. “He will be booked on his warrant.”

In a video, obtained by TMZ, Bufield denied the accusations.

“Hi everybody, it’s Tim. I’m sure most of you know, that are watching this, that I was ordered to come to Albuquerque – I’m here now,” he said. “I got the call Friday night, I had to get a lawyer. Saturday I got in the car, drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque. I’m gonna confront these lies. They’re horrible.”

“They’re all lies and I did not do anything to those little boys and I’m gonna fight it,” he continued. “I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated, I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies.”

The report explains that an arrest warrant for Busfield was issued on January 9, after an investigator with the Albuquerque Police Department filed a criminal complaint alleging a child reported that Busfield touched him inappropriately.

More from TMZ:

As we reported … the award-winning film and TV actor and director was accused of sexually abusing two boys who were child actors on “The Cleaning Lady” while he was directing the show in 2022 in New Mexico. At the time, prosecutors say, the child actors were 7 and 8, and their parents reported the alleged crimes to the Albuquerque police two years later, leading to a criminal investigation.

Busfield’s civil lawyer, Larry Stein, tells TMZ … he believes there is a revenge factor at work. He points to the criminal complaint, which essentially says an actress on set claims that the mother of both boys told her she vowed to get revenge after her sons were cut from the final season of the show.

NBC News has now shelved an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” which was set to air this week, featuring Busfield.

The New York Post separately reported that Busfield has stated it is “highly likely” he touched the children while on the New Mexico set of “The Cleaning Lady,” but denied there was any sexual abuse.

In an interview with police on November 3, 2025, Busfield claimed, “I mean, I’m always around people, right? It would be, you know, in front of the parents. There would never be a weird moment about it.”

He also insisted the child actors were “never alone on set without the teacher, a welfare worker, or a parent.”

Busfield is married to actress Melissa Gilbert, best known for her portrayal of Laura Ingalls on “Little House on The Prairie.”

Gilbert, 61, who has recently made guest appearances on Hallmark’s When Calls The Heart, has now deleted her Instagram account amid the backlash over the allegations against her husband.
