BOMBSHELL TEXTS: Steve Bannon breaks silence on Epstein ‘friendship’ and apparent Trump betrayal

From Daily MailSteve Bannon has finally broken his silence over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein after files released by the Justice Department revealed the Trump confidant maintained close contact with the pedophile.

Bannon frequently texted and emailed the financier, even sharing political and media strategy in the period leading up to his arrest on sex-trafficking charges.

The MAGA firebrand, who was fired from the Trump administration in 2017, suggested in one text message that the president should be removed from office.

In December 2018 Bannon told Epstein that Trump was ‘beyond borderline – 25 amendment’ suggesting the idea of using the Constitution to remove the President.

In 2019, Bannon conducted extensive interviews with Epstein at his Manhattan mansion. This was reportedly related to media coaching for a potential appearance on 60 Minutes aimed at rehabilitating the disgraced financier’s image.

Bannon claims now that the whole thing was intended to expose Epstein for his misdeeds and “destroy the very myths he created” for a documentary.

“First we need to push back on the lies; then crush the pedo/trafficking narrative; then rebuild your image as philanthropist,” Bannon wrote in one exchange with Epstein in April 2019, five months after the Miami Herald reported that prosecutors had ignored evidence of Epstein’s crimes.

But Bannon says that was all a ruse.

“I am a filmmaker and TV host with decades of experience interviewing controversial figures,” Bannon said Monday.

“That’s the only lens through which these private communications should be viewed — a documentary filmmaker working, over a period of time, to secure 50 hours of interviews from a reclusive subject,” Bannon claimed.

But their apparent friendship lasted for years.

From the Times:

Mr. Epstein first tried to meet with Mr. Bannon in November 2016, after Mr. Trump won the presidency, the documents suggest. But Mr. Bannon, a top campaign strategist for Mr. Trump and later a senior White House official, agreed only after the president had fired him in August 2017.

The two men quickly seemed to bond over finance, science, politics and the ongoing drama in the Trump White House. “We have become friends,” Mr. Epstein wrote to an associate about Mr. Bannon in February 2018.

By then, Mr. Bannon was seeking to advise right-wing foreign politicians, mostly in Europe. Mr. Epstein introduced him to political figures he knew.

At one point in 2019, Bannon told Epstein: “we must counter ‘rapist who traffics in female children to be raped by worlds most powerful, richest men’ — that can’t be redeemed.”

Bannon plans to release the film he’s spent 6 years making later this year, a spokesperson told the New York Times. The spokesman said Bannon never accepted Epstein’s offers to ride on his plane or stay overnight at any of Epstein’s residences.

Yet in March of 2019, Bannon asked Bannon for the use of his plane, which was unavailable, and he made plans to meet up with Epstein Paris, asking, “I’m staying with you tonight??”

“Yes stay,” Epstein replied.

“Enroute,” Bannon texted back.

The next morning, Epstein told an associate: “Steve Bannon is here with me.”

According to representatives of Bannon, he stayed in a hotel that night, not at Epstein’s Paris home.
