Tiffany Henyard, the self-proclaimed “supermayor” of Dolton, Illinois, is facing criticism after spending $85,000 on a party featuring R&B singer Keke Wyatt and rapper J. Holiday, which, according to reports, had sparse attendance.
Henyard has also been criticized for using taxpayer funds on first-class travel and concerts. “That was a flop,” former Dolton trustee Valeria Stubbs said after attending the event, dubbed “Taste of Thornton Township,” as reported by WGN-TV.
Keke Wyatt was paid $30,000 and J. Holiday $20,000 for 30-minute performances at the event, according to records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. The township also spent $6,600 on inflatable bounce houses and additional costs for comedians, a sound system, staff, and equipment. The total cost to taxpayers was at least $85,769.
“I was flabbergasted,” Lansing resident Jennifer Robertz told the news outlet. “I was pissed off. That’s my money. That’s the people’s money.”

Tiffany Henyard, a Democrat, has clashed with Dolton residents and officials over excessive spending and corruption allegations. Despite trustees postponing a meeting, she held it anyway, claiming she improved the village while its finances fell into deficit. Henyard vetoed the board’s calls for a federal investigation into her alleged misuse of funds and their hiring of former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to lead a special probe.
In May, the board appointed a mayor pro tempore in case Henyard neglected her duties. Lightfoot’s preliminary investigation found Dolton’s general fund dropped from $5.61 million in 2022 to a $3.65 million deficit by May 2024.
