From CBS News: President Trump said early Tuesday morning that he wants “a real end” to Iran’s nuclear problem, with Tehran “giving up entirely” its enrichment activities. He said he was not just working toward a ceasefire to end the war between Iran and Israel, which has claimed at least two dozen lives in Israel and hundreds in Iran as it enters its fifth day.
“I didn’t say I was looking for a ceasefire,” Mr. Trump told reporters on Air Force One after cutting short his time at the G7 summit in Canada.
Mr. Trump predicted that Israel would not slow its assault on Iran, which has largely decapitated the Islamic republic’s military command and inflicted significant damage to its controversial nuclear program.
“You’re going to find out over the next two days. You’re going to find out. Nobody’s slowed up so far,” he said.
Trump was asked why he issued a warning on Truth Social on Monday, telling Tehran’s roughly 10 million residents to “immediately evacuate.”
Trump said he wanted “people to be safe,” but did not explain further. His warning came the same day that Israel told the 300,000 residents of a central district of Tehran to evacuate.
Trump left the G7 in Canada early to monitor the situation in the Middle East, he said, as he could be “more well versed” on developments from the White House Situation Room than via cellphone.
“I don’t believe in telephones — because people like you listen to them,” he told reporters. “Being on the scene is much better.”
A reporter asked Trump, “What is specifically better than a ceasefire? What are you looking for here?”
Trump said, “An end. A real end. Not a ceasefire. An end… It’s certainly possible.”

Trump also took to his Truth Social platform earlier in the day, responding to the “publicity seeking” French President Emmanuel Macron’s comment. Trump said Macron had “mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran.”
Trump set the record straight, saying, “Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that.”
In another post, Trump said, “I have not reached out to Iran for ‘Peace Talks’ in any way, shape, or form. This is just more HIGHLY FABRICATED, FAKE NEWS! If they want to talk, they know how to reach me. They should have taken the deal that was on the table – Would have saved a lot of lives!!!”
He then retruthed a post from Monday, where he said, “AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
He also posted a personal message from Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and the current United States ambassador to Israel.
Huckabee wrote, “Mr President, God spared you in Butler, PA to be the most consequential President in a century-maybe ever.
“The decisions on your shoulders I would not want to be made by anyone else. You have many voices speaking to you Sir, but there is only ONE voice that matters. HIS voice. I am your appointed servant in this land and am available for you but I do not try to get in your presence often because I trust your instincts. No President in my lifetime has been in a position like yours. Not since Truman in 1945. I don’t reach out to persuade you. Only to encourage you. I believe you will hear from heaven and that voice is far more important than mine or ANYONE else’s. You sent me to Israel to be your eyes, ears and voice and to make sure our flag flies above our embassy. My job is to be the last one to leave.
“I will not abandon this post. Our flag will NOT come down! You did not seek this moment. This moment sought YOU! It is my honor to serve you!”
