From the New York Post: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who has spent more than a decade warning that the world was on the brink of unimaginable peril due to rising global temperatures, now says climate change “will not lead to humanity’s demise” in a stunning reversal.
Gates, 70, who has sunk billions of his vast fortune into initiatives ostensibly meant to combat global warming, penned a lengthy blog post this week urging a shift away from the “doomsday outlook” many climate activists have adopted to terrify nonbelievers into seeing things their way.
“Although climate change will have serious consequences — particularly for people in the poorest countries — it will not lead to humanity’s demise,” he wrote. “People will be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future.”
Gates, who just four years ago authored a book titled “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster” and once said climate change “could be worse” than the COVID-19 pandemic, now argues “we should measure success by our impact on human welfare more than our impact on the global temperature.”
“Unfortunately, the doomsday outlook is causing much of the climate community to focus too much on near-term emissions goals, and it’s diverting resources from the most effective things we should be doing to improve life in a warming world,” Gates wrote in the op-ed published on Monday.
Ironically, Gates’ op-ed back-tracking on the doomsday climate change narrative was published on the very same day that Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) fired off a letter to Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, demanding information on the millions of dollars the Gates Foundation has funneled to Chinese PLA fronts in violation of IRS rules against charities funding foreign governments under Foundation’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit charter.
Grassley wrote in the letter:
According to reports, in 2023, the Gates Foundation “directed roughly $11.7 million into various arms of China’s communist-controlled government, as well as $2 million to a corporation the Department of Defense (DOD) determined works with the Chinese military and an additional $6.7 million to state-run universities that help prop up Chinese President Xi Jinping’s regime.”
According to reporting, the Gates Foundation labels most of its grants to the Chinese government as “public health initiatives concerning research, global health awareness and sanitation, among other areas.”
According to the Gates Foundation’s FY 2022 tax filings, the nonprofit provided approximately $23 million in funding to over 20 different Chinese entities, some of which were labeled as “foreign governments.”
