Former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who gained national attention during the 2020 presidential debates for her sharp criticism of Kamala Harris, has now been enlisted by Donald Trump to aid in his preparation for an upcoming debate with Harris scheduled for September 10, 2024.

Gabbard’s role in Trump’s debate team is viewed as a strategic choice, given her prior success in challenging Harris’s prosecutorial record, a key vulnerability that she exposed during the Democratic primaries.

The decision is immense, as  Gabbard’s ability to critique Harris on a personal and professional level is seen as a potential advantage in the high-stakes debate setting. Many political analysts believe that Gabbard’s insights could once again be used to undermine Harris’s credibility, especially as Trump seeks to appeal to voters critical of Harris’s tenure as California’s Attorney General.

This follows Kamala Harris’s recent controversial policy proposals, such as her suggestion that the government should have the authority to seize patents under certain circumstances. This proposal has been criticized by opponents as an excessive overreach of government power, potentially stifling innovation and discouraging investment in new technologies, and as an alarming infringement on private property rights.

As the debate approaches, both sides are gearing up for what promises to be a highly charged and closely watched event. Trump’s team, bolstered by Gabbard’s involvement, is likely to focus on Harris’s record and policy positions, aiming to sway undecided voters and reinforce their base.
