From KAKE.com: SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) – Salina police have arrested a woman who allegedly left a 94-year-old woman in a vehicle several times while she went shopping on Wednesday.
Officers responded at around 5:40 p.m. to the report of an unresponsive elderly woman in a vehicle at the Kohl’s at 2580 South 9th Street. Capt. James Feldman said someone had noticed the woman in the vehicle and walked over to make sure she was all right. The window was down, and the woman did not respond. The witness then called 911.
Police and EMS arrived at the Kohl’s and identified the woman as a Miltonvale resident. She was not fully coherent when EMS began assisting her. The heat index was 93 degrees.
Officers identified the owner of the vehicle as 67-year-old Ava Arlene Brown, also of Miltonvale.
A separate report by KWCH.com noted that, according to police, Brown had left the elderly woman in the car for a total of about two hours Wednesday, including about 50 minutes while Brown was in the Kohls store and additional stops at other stores previously.
Police arrested Brown on suspicion of mistreatment of a dependent adult.
