The public address system in an airport in Pennsylvania, and in at least three airports in Canada were all hacked on Tuesday, and started blasting out pro-Hamas messages for several minutes, sending authorities scrambling to get it shut down.
The alarming incidents happened just one day after the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas went into effect, and the 20 remaining living Israeli hostages were freed.
One of the airports affected was Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania. WGAL8 reported that the airport “experienced an unexpected broadcast of a pro-Palestinian political message over its loudspeakers for about 10 minutes on Tuesday night, which included profanity and references to President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”
Scott Miller, spokesman for Harrisburg International Airport, appeared to dismiss it, claiming, “It was not a threat, that’s the important thing.”
“Our IT department discovered it, they took it down, we referred it to the police department, and they’re doing an investigation,” Miller added.
Other airports whose PA systems were hacked included Kelowna International Airport and Victoria International Airport in British Columbia, and Windsor International Airport in Ontario.
A group named ‘Mutarrif Siberislam’ claimed responsibility for the cyber attack at the airports.
Large flight information screens at the airports were also hacked. One image shows Hamas militants on the screen, a degrading image of Netanyahu, and a crude message in red letters which read:
“Hacked by Mutarrif Siberislam, Israel lost the war, Hamas won the war honorably. You are a pig, Donald Trump.”

In videos posted on social media, the hacker announced over the airports’ PA systems, “Free Palestine” and “F— Netanyahu and Trump.” The hacker also declares, “Turkish hacker Cyber Islam was here.”
The hackers and their supporters appear to be gloating over the attack, and referred to the culprit as a Turkish hacker.
One X user, Harun Şimşak, wrote, “Our brother, the hacker named Mutarrif, has carried out a major cyber attack on American airports. May Allah be pleased with him. May Allah amplify the impact of this cyber attack. (Amin) Greetings to you, Akıncı! (@siberislam).”
X user Akıncı Mecra boasted: “Cyber Attack on American Airports! The extremist coder Cyber Raider, under the name “Executioners of Abu Ubaida,” launched a cyber attack on the audio/video systems of Harrisburg, Kelowna, Victoria, and Rogue Valley Medford airports. The systems broadcast the Qassam anthem and the voice of Abu Ubaida.”
Another X user in support of the hacker wrote:
We salute this Glorious Cyber Raid…
Down with Israel!
Down with the USA!
Long live Glorious Qassam!
Long live Glorious Resistance!
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy reacted to the shocking attack, declaring, “This is absolutely unacceptable and understandably scared travelers. The @FAANews and I are coordinating with @FlyHIA to help get to the bottom of this hack.”
