From The Hill: The House on Tuesday overwhelmingly torpedoed an effort by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) to impeach President Trump over the U.S. strikes on Iran, underscoring how little appetite Democrats have to try to oust the president despite their frustration with the weekend attack.
The chamber voted 344-79 to table Green’s resolution, which charges Trump with abuse of power. One hundred-twenty eight Democrats voted with Republicans to table the measure.
Green for months has sought to trigger a vote on impeaching Trump, slamming his handling of foreign and domestic policy issues.
The congressman on Tuesday reupped that effort, filing a resolution accusing Trump of failing to seek authorization from Congress before striking three sites in Iran over the weekend, which Democrats have taken issue with.
Green’s impeachment resolution accused President Trump of “abuse of presidential powers by disregarding the separation of powers — devolving American democracy into authoritarianism by unconstitutionally usurping Congress’s power to declare war.”
“President Trump’s unilateral, unprovoked use of force without congressional authorization or notice constitutes an abuse of power when there was no imminent threat to the United States, which facilitates the devolution of American democracy into authoritarianism,” Green claimed.

House Speaker Mike Johnson responded to Green’s impeachment resolution, writing on X, “House Republicans are working to deliver historic tax cuts and generational investments in border security and America’s military through the One Big Beautiful Bill….
“BUT… Democrats are focused on impeaching President Trump – for daring to keep the American people safe. You can’t make this stuff up.”
The House slapped down Green’s impeachment effort in a 344-79 vote to “table” the resolution. Another 9 members of Congress did not vote.
