1 – VA ELECTION UPDATE #1: Trump and McCarthy sought revenge against top House conservative, but GOP primary too close to call

From Fox News: It is a nail-biter in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District as one of the nation’s most conservative members of Congress is fighting for his political life against a primary challenger backed by former President Trump and former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Rep. Bob Good, who chairs the hard-right House Freedom Caucus, trailed primary challenger state Sen. John McGuire by 327 votes as of 12 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to unofficial returns in the GOP nomination race in the reliably red southern Virginia district. Virginia observes the Juneteenth holiday, and a resumption of the vote tabulation for the remaining uncounted ballots in the race may not take place until Thursday. The current margin in the election is less than one percent and if it remains under that level, the race would qualify for a recount according to Virginia law.

Good is still holding out hope that he will prevail:

Trump-supported McGuire, currently ahead in the race by a few hundred votes, is claiming victory:

2 – VA ELECTION UPDATE #2: Republicans and Democrats choose candidates to square off in bid for retiring Democrat’s U.S. House seat in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District

The battle lines are drawn as Republicans hoping to flip a key seat in the U.S. Congress voted for Trump supporter Derrick Anderson, a U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret and combat veteran, in Virginia’s GOP primary race Tuesday night.

Anderson will face off against the Democrat winner, Army veteran Eugene Vindman, who played a key role in the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump.  The Hill reported:  Vindman was serving as an ethics lawyer to the National Security Council in 2019 when his identical twin brother, veteran Alexander Vindman, alerted him of a phone call he heard between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump pressured Zelensky to investigate then-candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.  Both Vindmans passed along what they heard to their superiors, resulting in the eventual first impeachment of Trump, who was acquitted on the counts of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress that he faced.

Anderson and Vindman are competing to take the seat currently occupied by Democrat Rep. Abigail Spanberger, who is retiring in order to run for governor of Virginia next year.

3 – Hospital cyberattack turns deadly as drugs are given to the wrong patients

From the Daily Mail: A cyberattack on a major American hospital system has caused lethal medication mix ups including patients administered narcotics by mistake, leading to an admission to intensive care for life-threatening breathing difficulties.

In another case, a female patient suffered a cardiac arrest and died after data mishaps delayed test results that would determine her life-saving treatment.

Elsewhere, a nurse working for the Kansas branch of the major medical group recalled a ‘near miss,’ which involved him almost administering a lethal dose of narcotic to a baby — because of false paperwork.

Employees at Ascension, a Catholic healthcare system with more than 140 facilities across the country, said these patients are just some of those suffering from the continued fallout of a cyberattack last month. The healthcare giant ‘detected unusual activity’ across its networks, which left doctors and nurses locked out of digital systems and unable to access vital details about patients’ care.

4 – Pope touts duty to welcome all migrants

From Breitbart: In preparation for World Refugee Day, Pope Francis declared Wednesday that all of us are “required” to welcome anyone who knocks on our door. World Refugee Day, an annual United Nations commemoration celebrated on June 20, should be “an occasion to turn an attentive and fraternal gaze to all those who are compelled to flee their homes in search of peace and security,” the pontiff told the crowd gathered in Saint Peter’s Square for his weekly general audience.

“We are all required to welcome, promote, accompany, and integrate those who knock on our doors,” the pope contended. Pope Francis has insisted throughout his 11-year pontificate that immigration and the care of migrants are primary concerns for Christians and should not be considered a second-tier issue.

5 – Blue City Slapped With Lawsuit Over Non-Citizens Voting In Elections

From the Daily Caller: Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections (RITE) filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against the city of Burlington, Vermont, for allowing non-citizens to participate in its elections. RITE filed the lawsuit against the city of Burlington for allowing noncitizens to vote in local city or Burlington School District elections. The lawsuit alleges that in doing so, the city violated “voter’s qualifications” enshrined in the Vermont State Constitution.

“Activists are working overtime to undermine democracy in Vermont by extending the right to vote to noncitizens,” Derek Lyons, President of RITE, said in a press release. “This anti-democratic agenda is progressing at an alarming pace.”

6 – Biden Gives His Podium to Illegal Migrant

From Breitbart: President Joe Biden gave his presidential podium to an illegal migrant Tuesday as he tried to revive election enthusiasm among his worried pro-migrant progressives.

“My resilient parents brought me to this country [ilegally, at age 3] to give me a chance at a better future … They are a symbol of the American dream and they helped me with my dream,” Mexican national Javier Quiroz Castro told the White House room of cheering progressive activists.

“It is a privilege to personally thank President Biden for delivering on his promise to protect American families like mine,” the 33-year-old nurse declared from Biden’s podium that carried the presidential seal of the United States.

7 – Mayorkas denies responsibility for gruesome illegal alien crime

From Breitbart: On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas responded to criticisms that the Biden administration should face blame for the killing of Rachel Morin by stating that “a criminal is responsible for the criminal act. The criminal who committed this heinous act should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law, and forcefully so. That is my response.”

RNC Research: Mayorkas says they “made determinations” to let EIGHT suspected ISIS-K terrorists into the country after they illegally crossed the border because there wasn’t “derogatory information when [they were] first encountered.”

RNC Research: Mayorkas brags about creating more “pathways” to illegal immigration “than any other administration” — confirmation that the millions of unvetted illegals that have flooded U.S. communities under Biden is ON PURPOSE.

8 – U.S. Navy tracking Russian warships off the coast of Miami, Florida

From Newsweek: American and Canadian warships tracked a Russian submarine as it traveled along the Florida coast, the U.S. Navy has said. A Russian naval flotilla that docked in Havana, Cuba, last week raised concerns over the Kremlin’s intentions in the western hemisphere amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and Russia over Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and concerns that it may escalate further afield.

During the visit, the missile frigate Admiral Gorshkov, the nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine Kazan, the oil tanker Pashin and the salvage tug Nikolai Chiker passed very close to Florida shores on their way to Havana with open satellite tracking one vessel less than 30 miles off Key Largo ahead of military drills.

9 – Glimmer of hope for hellhole California city as residents take drastic action against their progressive mayor

From the Daily Mail: A crime-plagued California city may be one step closer to reversing its misfortunes after taking drastic action against its progressive mayor. Sheng Thao will face a historic recall election in November amid anger over her failure to get a grip on the situation in Oakland. The progressive Democrat lawmaker is the first mayor in the city’s history to be up for recall, after a campaign to oust her gained more than 40,000 signatures.

Oakland has been rocked by violent crime in recent months, including murders which have soared from 78 in 2019 to 126 last year. Crime overall increased by 18 percent in 2023 with property crime up 17 percent and violent crime up 21 percent. And in the first four months of 2024 residential robberies soared by 118 percent on the same period last year.

A Florida family just withdrew their son from an Oakland university, after their car was broken into while they were visiting the city.
