From Fox News: Passengers screamed and pleaded to “turn around” as flames shot from an engine of a Delta Air Lines aircraft moments after takeoff, forcing the flight bound for Atlanta to make a rapid return to São Paulo, Brazil.

Delta Flight 104, an Airbus A330-300 carrying 272 passengers and 14 crew, had just departed São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport on Sunday when a mechanical problem struck its left engine, the airline confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Videos recorded by passengers show sparks and bursts of flame coming from the engine, lighting up the night sky as the aircraft gained altitude.

“Turn around!” passengers can be heard shouting.

The plane was in the air for a full 10 minutes, after the fire erupted in the engine, and the pilot had to circle back around in order to land.

In multiple videos circulating on social media, the sheer terror in the screams of the passengers is bone-chilling.

This may make you want to never fly again.  WATCH BELOW:

New and clearer photos of the Delta Air Lines A330 that suffered an engine fire during takeoff from São Paulo on March 29 have been released by Brazilian aviation site AEROIN, revealing the extent of the damage for the first time.

According to AEROIN, the images show what appears to be a catastrophic failure of the Low-Pressure Turbine (LPT) inside the left Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine. Significant damage to the fan blades is also visible in the new photos.

The aircraft, registered N813NW, was operating Delta Flight 104 from São Paulo’s Guarulhos Airport to Atlanta with 272 passengers and 14 crew members on board. The left engine erupted in flames just seconds after the A330 became airborne. The pilots shut down the engine and safely returned to Guarulhos approximately 10 minutes later. No injuries were reported.

Metallic debris from the engine fell onto the runway and surrounding grass, igniting a brush fire on the airport grounds. Only one runway was in use at the time due to maintenance on the other, which forced the airport to temporarily suspend all operations.

Both U.S. and Brazilian aviation authorities are investigating. Brazil’s accident investigation agency Cenipa confirmed it is leading the probe.
