From the Daily Caller: Duke and UConn gave us an all-time thriller Sunday night to see who was going to punch their ticket to the Final Four, but the legendary Charles Barkley wanted to talk about something else: immigration policy.
The co-host of “Inside the NBA” hijacked the television broadcast (CBS/TNT) while the game was in the middle of a break, taking a story about UConn forward Alex Karaban and flipping it to a rant about the things going on in the U.S. regarding immigration.
Fans, already on the edge of their seats, wanted some breakdown and maybe a little comedy from Chuck. But instead he decided to put a target on the federal government, branding the nation’s immigration situation as “a travesty and a disgrace.”
Barkley‘s lecture came following a segment that went into how Karaban and his family moved from Ukraine and Belarus to the United States. He spoke about his irritation with how everything has been handled in terms of immigration.
Barkley said:
“I want to be careful with my words right now because this is a really touchy subject for me. I love that kid and his family, but the way some of these other immigrants are getting treated in our country right now is a travesty and a disgrace. I think there’s a difference between amazing immigrants and criminal immigrants. I think what’s going on in our country, what we’re doing to some of these amazing immigrants, is really unfortunate and it’s really sad.
“And that’s a great immigrant story. We have a lot of great immigrant stories out there that their stories need to be told, but some of the stuff that’s happening to immigrants in our country right now is really unfortunate, and it’s really unfair. But immigrants built this country, and we should admire them and respect them.”

Barkley is being torched on social media for his rant.
“The disgrace is how they’re treating America…” one X user retorted.
“It’s a travesty and disgrace how illegal aliens are killing American citizens,” another person wrote.
Prominent X user AmericanPapaBear wrote in fury, “Charles Barkley says it’s a travesty how illegal aliens are treated in this country. What about the AMERICAN PEOPLE who are suffering at their hands Chuck? Spare me the fake outrage!”
Author John Hawkins suggested, “If some squatters broke into Charles Barkley’s mansion, made themselves at home and started cooking his steaks in the kitchen, would it be a disgrace if the police showed up and made them leave? Because it’s the exact same thing.”
