TWISTED: 25-Year-Old Gang Rape Victim to be Euthanized… But not the rapists

From Breitbart: Noelia Castillo Ramos, a Spanish 25-year-old gang rape victim from Barcelona, is slated to receive euthanasia Thursday following a lengthy legal battle by her father who sought to stop the procedure.

The young woman, largely identified by Spanish outlets by her first name, Noelia, was left paraplegic after she tried to commit suicide by leaping from a fifth-floor window in October 2022 after she was gang raped, which left her suffering from a horrific trauma.

The incident reportedly left her with a severe and irreversible complete spinal cord injury, a “paraplegia that prevents her from moving from the waist down and causes her severe neuropathic pain and incontinence.” She started her request to receive euthanasia in 2024, leading to a two-year legal battle.

“Born into a very dysfunctional family, her parents’ addictions and mental health issues meant that Noelia spent much of her childhood and adolescence in juvenile detention centers,” El Pais wrote. “The young woman places the trigger of everything in 2022 after a gang rape.”

Desperate to save his daughter, El Mundo reported that Noelia’s father had  appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) after exhausting all methods of appear in Spain.  However, on Tuesday, the ECHR refused to step in to halt the planned euthanasia Thursday evening.

On Wednesday, Spanish broadcaster Antena3 released an interview it held with Noelia at her grandmother’s home.

Clips of the interview are circulating on social media, generating reactions of shock and and heartbreak.

Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador, was one of those who spoke out about the sickening case. He warned:

This is the ultimate goal of “human rights” organizations. See the entire case, from the beginning to the end they intend; each and every one of the steps is part of the “protection of human rights” achieved through their “struggles and victories.”

We will never listen to them, no matter how much they attack us. They have nothing to come tell us; rather, we should be the ones denouncing you for what you do to women like Noelia.

The world urgently needs to free itself from these organizations, which are nothing more than the law firms of criminals, who LITERALLY prefer to kill the victims rather than protect them.

Elon Musk also spoke out on the case, calling it, “Incredibly tragic.”

Another X user replied:

I work with suicidal individuals. This is part of my profession, and I see firsthand that people can recover. Suicidal thoughts are not permanent. They can be treated, reduced, and even completely overcome. That is why I find it deeply concerning when suicide is framed as something that should be normalized.

There is substantial evidence showing that many people who attempt suicide but survive later change their minds. They often report feeling grateful that they lived and go on to find meaning, connection, and purpose again. While it is true that some individuals make multiple attempts, there is also evidence that even among those who attempt suicide several times, many eventually shift their perspective and no longer wish to die. This shows that suicidal desire is not fixed — it can change, and often does.

Because of this, normalizing suicide is extremely dangerous. If we begin to treat it as an acceptable or understandable solution, we risk influencing vulnerable individuals at moments when they are already struggling. Instead of seeking help or believing recovery is possible, they may feel validated in ending their lives.

This is not simply a matter of being progressive or emphasizing personal choice. This is about human lives — about people who, given time, support, and treatment, might rediscover hope. When we normalize suicide, we risk removing that window of possibility.

This is not a theoretical debate. This is about real people, real suffering, and real chances for recovery.
