MORNING DEVOTIONAL (March 22)

The Quiet Place Where Hearts Are Renewed

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”

Mark 1:35 (NIV)

Even Jesus, the Son of God, intentionally carved out time to be alone with the Father. Amid healing crowds, teaching multitudes, and facing constant demands, He withdrew to a quiet, solitary place. If the perfect Son of God needed this focused communion with the Father, how much more do we need it?

In our fast-moving world, time feels like the one resource we never have enough of. But God invites us not to a rushed checklist, but to a relationship. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Stillness isn’t emptiness, it’s the space where we stop striving and simply become aware of His nearness.

Taking time with God isn’t about perfection or performance. It’s about presence. Some mornings, you may only have five minutes before you rush into the day. Other seasons allow for longer, unhurried moments. The key is consistency over quantity. Show up, even when your heart feels dry or distracted.

When we draw near, something beautiful happens: God draws near to us (James 4:8). In that quiet place, worries lose their grip, truth replaces lies, and peace settles where anxiety once ruled. We leave reminded that we are deeply loved, not for what we do, but for who we are to Him.

Father, thank You for desiring to be with me. Forgive me for the days I treat time with You like an optional add-on rather than the lifeline it truly is. Teach me to seek You first—not out of duty, but out of desire. Help me find my “solitary place,” whether it’s a corner chair at dawn, a walk at lunch, or a quiet car after work. Meet me there. Speak to me through Your Word. Renew my strength as I wait on You. May my life flow from this daily communion, so others see Your light in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
