NOT LAUGHING: Oscars presenter blasted for horrific Holocaust joke

From Daily MailOscars presenter Kumail Nanjiani sparked fury at the star-studded event on Sunday with a tasteless joke about Schindler’s List.

The comedian made the comment while on stage presenting a tie win for Best Live Action Short Film at the star studded event.

Much to the dismay of the audience, and those watching at home, Nanjiani swapped Schindler’s List for ‘Schindler Post It’ when he attempted a gag about movie titles being shorter.

He said: ‘There is a real art to making a short film. I think many full-length movies would do just as well, if not better, as short films. ‘We should take some of these feature films, remake them as shorts. Save us some time.’

Nanjiani‘s suggestions included changing It’s A Wonderful Life to It’s A Wonderful Month, The King’s Speech to The King’s Tweet, and, scandalously, Schindler’s List to Schindler’s Post-It.

Schindler’s List is the 1993 Steven Spielberg film that depicts Oskar Schindler, played by Liam Neeson, saving 1,200 Jews.

Multiple social media users blasted the comment and Nanjiani.

“Can’t say that Schindler’s List joke was uh in any good taste,’ said one.

“That was as CHEAP leftist antisemitic comment by this f***, Kumail Nanjiani… Schindler’s Post-It. Don’t invite him back,” another wrote.

What do you think? Was it incredibly insensitive to suggest limiting the lives Schindler saved to a post-it note, especially considering the current conflict in Iran, the events of October 7, and the persistence of Holocaust deniers, or is it all in good fun and comedians should be able to poke fun at everything because it does no real harm? Telll us in the comments below.
