From Fox News: The House and Senate are set to take votes Thursday on funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as concerns grow about potential Iran-linked threats inside the United States.
The Senate will hold a procedural vote around 1:45 p.m. on a motion to advance the DHS funding bill.
The same vote failed in February after Democrats declined to provide enough support to clear the 60-vote filibuster threshold, and it is expected to fail again.
Later Thursday afternoon, the House is expected to vote on a separate bill to fund DHS. House GOP leaders expect that measure to pass with Republican support and some Democratic votes.
Pressure is mounting for the standoff on funding DHS to end, as warnings are circulating about potential lone-wolf terror attacks and cyber attacks amid the military operation against Iran.
House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters on Wednesday, “Everybody in America better watch that board. Anybody who votes to block funding for the homeland, it is shameful. I don’t know how to describe it. It speaks to a long record of Democrats’ deliberate efforts to undermine America’s safety and the essential operations of DHS.”
“Democrats spent four years presiding over a catastrophic open border that allowed countless terrorists to enter the United States. Now they’re refusing to fund the Department of Homeland Security—the very agency responsible for protecting the American people from terrorism at home,” Speaker Johnson said.
“Their priorities could not be more clear: Illegal aliens over the welfare of the American people,” he added in a direct rebuke to Democrats.

More from The Hill: There are some moderate Democrats who could cross the aisle and vote for the bill. Seven Democrats joined Republicans in January to vote for the previous DHS bill in January, before Pretti’s death: Reps. Henry Cuellar (Texas), Don Davis (N.C.), Laura Gillen (N.Y.), Jared Golden (Maine), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.) and Tom Suozzi (N.Y.).
The DHS bill is likely to be dead on arrival in the Senate, where it will need some Democratic support to overcome a filibuster. Senate Democrats blocked the previous House-passed DHS funding bill last week. Sen. John Fetterman (Pa.) has been the lone Democrat in voting to advance a full-year DHS funding bill.
