WATCH LIVE: MN Gov. Tim Walz, AG Keith Ellison being grilled by Congress on Minnesota fraud scandals

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and state attorney general Keith Ellison are testifying before the House Oversight Committee in Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning.

The two Democrats have been called in for the hearing amid reports of  widespread fraud and misuse of federal funds, much of it involving the Somali migrant community.

In his opening statement Ellison is already trying to turn the tables by raging against the federal immigration operations in Minnesota, and claiming this does nothing nothing to address fraud.

Democrats have brought in another witness to testify alongside Walz and Ellison – Mariah Tollgaard, a pastor in the Minneapolis area, who is also condemning the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operations.

Ellison is already in the hot seat. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) asked Walz if he had any idea how many people in Minnesota have already been indicted in the fraud scandals. Ellison said he did not have those numbers.

Jordan informed him 98 people have been indicted.

Then Jordan asked Ellison how many of those were Somalis? Ellison claimed that he didn’t know and said, “We don’t indict people based on ethnicity.”

Jordan informed him 85 of those indicted were Somalis.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced:

Today, the Oversight Committee will hear from Minnesota’s failure of a Governor, Tim Walz, on his knowledge of the massive fraud scandals going on in his state. Over $9 BILLION, we know of. Either he was aware and complicit, or unaware and incompetent. Pick your poison.

He campaigned for Vice President while his state’s taxpayers were being looted by Somali pirates. Tim Walz can’t even manage one state, thank GOD the rest of America didn’t let him near the White House.
