President Donald Trump hosted a reception at the White House Wednesday afternoon, in honor of Black History Month. The event was inspiring, deeply moving and emotional, and a powerful tribute to how the president has greatly impacted the lives of many ordinary Black Americans.
If Republicans want to win the midterms and beyond, they should hold many more events just like this, both at the White House and across the country.
Trump hosted the event Wednesday afternoon by delivering brief remarks, then bringing multiple people to the microphone, one by one, to share their personal stories.
One speaker was Alice Johnson, who Trump pardoned after she had served a whopping 22 years in prison for a minor crime, and still had 28 years left to serve. She is now the White House Pardon Czar.

Forlesia Cook, a D.C. woman whose grandson was killed in a 2017 shooting, stole the show. Cook said no Democrat ever reached out to help her, but it was President Trump and his administration who were the ones to show they cared. This was the most emotional and powerful tribute of all.

President Trump issued a proclamation recognizing Black History Month on Feb. 3. The proclamation begins:
This year, we celebrate the most significant milestone in our Nation’s history: 250 glorious years of American independence. From the very beginning, our country has been blessed with countless black American heroes. For more than two and a half centuries, these legends have made timeless contributions to our government, laws, military, economy, workforce, and culture. With their tremendous legacy in mind, as President, I proclaim that “black history” is not distinct from American history — rather, the history of black Americans is an indispensable chapter in our grand American story.
Conservative speaker and author Angela Stanton-King announced in a post on X:
Today we celebrate Black History at the White House. And for me, it’s also the 5-year anniversary of my Presidential Pardon from @POTUS. This is what redemption looks like. Five years later, and my life has expanded in every way, my career, my reach, my purpose.
From conviction to clemency.
From record to restoration.
From setback to strength.
And tomorrow? We celebrate my birthday.Black History. Redemption. Another year around the sun. I couldn’t be happier. Let’s get it. 🇺🇸✨

Conservative commentator and Iraq war vet Rob Smith shared a video ahead of the event, and wrote, “The Black History Month event at the White House will begin soon! The line is FULL of Black patriots who support President Donald Trump! While mainstream media LIES about Trump’s support among Black Americans – this is the TRUTH!”

Several Black Trump supporters are lamenting that they didn’t receive an invitation to the event.
Smith explained, “Ballroom construction at the White House has cut capacity for ALL events to roughly 60% of usual, including the Black History Month event. No drama, no BS, it’s simply a space issue. The hard work of everyone in the movement is seen and appreciated!”

During a White House press briefing earlier on Wednesday, CBS News reporter Ed O’Keefe brazenly asked, “Where or when does the President believe he’s been falsely called a racist?”
A stunned Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt first asked if he was kidding, then retorted:
“I will pull you a plethora of examples. I’m going to get my team in that room to start going through the internet of radical Democrats throughout the years, Ed, who have accused this president falsely of being a racist on ensure there’s many people in this room and on network television across the country who have accused him of the same.”
“In fact, I know that because I’ve seen it with my own eyes. The President very much looks forward to having an event later this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate Black History Month and talk about how his policies are advancing opportunity and prosperity for all Americans through record tax cuts, through the Trump Accounts that all Americans can access, regardless of race.”
“There’s a lot this President has done for all Americans regardless of race and he has absolutely been falsely called and smeared as a racist and I am happy to provide you those receipts and we gladly will right after this briefing.”
