From NY PostThe deranged high school dropout who murdered his mother and stepbrother before killing six people at a British Columbia high school, has been identified as 18-year-old transgender former student Jesse Van Rootselaar.

The horrifying attack, one of the deadliest shootings in Canada’s history, began Tuesday at a residence in the sleepy rural community of Tumbler Ridge in the western province and concluded at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, where authorities say Van Rootselaar died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Van Rootselaar was identified Wednesday as the shooter by Royal Canadian Mounted Police Deputy commissioner Dwayne McDonald.

The initial active shooter alert described the shooter as a female in a dress.

A shooter killed six people at the school and his mother and a juvenile stepbrother at a connected residence.

The shooter’s connection to the school and how he gained access are unknown.

Twenty-five others were wounded in the shooting, most with non-life-threatening injuries.

The BBC reported additional details about the victims:

There were two people, McDonald says, that were airlifted to hospital. He gives no update on their condition.

A police official then gives an update on the deceased. In the school they are:

-A 39-year-old female educator

-Three female students, all aged 12

-Two male students, one aged 12 and the other 13

The deceased in the residence are:

-One 39-year-old female, the mother of the suspect

-An 11-year-old boy, the step-brother of the suspect

The BBC also reported that McDonald said there was no information to suggest the shooter had been bullied in school, and that Jesse had dropped out of school around four years ago and wasn’t attending school.
