A desperate search has been underway since Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her home last weekend. On Saturday, January 31, she had spent the evening at the home of one of her daughters’, Annie Cioni and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, having dinner and playing games. She was last seen Saturday evening when her son-in-law dropped her off at her Tucson, Arizona home around 9:45 p.m.
Police believe Guthrie was kidnapped from her home around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. DNA tests showed blood splatters found on Guthrie’s front porch were a definite match to her.
Guthrie is also the mother of NBC Today host Savannah Guthrie, and a son, Cameron Guthrie.
The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her recovery.
Fox News reported that since the new note has surfaced, authorities have returned to Guthrie’s home. Fox wrote:
Pima County Sheriff’s Office deputies have returned to Nancy Guthrie’s home, the last location she was seen alive, after authorities confirmed a “new message” was received Friday related to the missing 84-year-old grandmother.
Guthrie was reported missing midday Sunday and authorities previously received an alleged ransom note.
All media is being moved from the area outside Nancy Guthrie’s home by the sheriff’s office. It is unclear at this time why deputies have returned to the property.
Pima County Sheriff’s Office then confirmed in a separate post on X, “Investigators are conducting follow-up at the Guthrie home & in the surrounding areas. The roadway in front of the home is currently restricted to provide investigators space. (Camino Escalante is restricted from Cerrada Nopal to E Camino el Ganado). See map below.”

IN THE SHADOWS: Nancy Guthrie’s neighbors are now shedding light on just how dark and secluded the neighborhood really is.
Neighbors told @MattFinnFNC the area is so pitch-black that cameras are basically blind, leaving one resident to warn: Out here, you can get away with… pic.twitter.com/7OMM4xP1PE
