President Donald Trump made a major announcement from the White House Thursday evening, unveiling the TrumpRx website for American consumers to purchase low-cost prescription drugs.

President Trump has repeatedly noted that many prescription drugs are much cheaper in other countries are cheaper, while the United States is being hit with sky-high prices.

Through the leverage of tariffs, Trump has now convinced many major drug companies to reduce their prices for U.S. consumers.

The new website is www.TrumpRx.gov.

“Starting tonight, dozens of the most commonly-used prescription drugs will be available at dramatic discounts for all consumers throughout a new website: http://TrumpRX.Gov,” Trump announced.

“Under the Most Favored Nation agreements, my administration has negotiated the United States will pay the lowest price paid by any other country. So we’re taking the lowest price paid for drugs… It’s a tremendous reduction,” he explained.

During the presentation, an official explained how to use the new website to make sure they are getting the best price for prescription drugs. He said a person can look up the drug price on the website, print out a coupon, take it to an approved pharmacy, who then will honor the price on the coupon.

The website lists the approved pharmacies who will honor the coupon prices, many who will ship the prescriptions right to your home.

As an example, Trump said, “AstraZeneca’s slashing the price of a common inhaler from $458 to $51 — a difference of nearly 800%.”

The website is starting off with about 40 of the most popular medications that were previously overpriced, and additional drugs will continue to be added to the website.
