BACKLASH: Trump deescalates threat of military action, slammed for not standing firm with executed Iranians

From Daily MailDonald Trump has stepped back from the brink with Iran after receiving reassurances that Tehran is halting its planned execution of protesters.

The president told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday: ‘We’ve been told that the killing in Iran is stopping, and it’s stopped and stopping, and there’s no plan for executions or an execution.’

Trump’s notably restrained language may signal that pragmatists inside the administration have successfully made the case that an attack is too risky.

Despite appearing to retreat from his earlier red line, Trump signaled he could still order strikes against the ayatollah’s regime, saying his administration was closely monitoring the bloody crackdown which has left at least 2,500 protesters dead.

“We’re going to watch and see what the process is. But we were given a very good, very good statement by people that are aware of what’s going on,” Trump said regarding the use of military action.

Anti-regime activists on X instantly lashed out, accusing Trump of reneging on his earlier promises to take military action if protesters were harmed.

“If you TACO now Trump then you have just thrown all those protesters under the bus #FreeIran,” wrote one X user. TACO is an insult that stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out.”

Another posted an image of flipping the bird at “TACO Trump.”

Another wrote, “Executions stayed because the Mullahs now have a bargaining chip with TACO Trump who should never have inserted his ? into Iran’s latest revolt.”
