OFF THE ROADS: ICE arrests 100+ illegal alien truckers in major sweep after deadly crashes across multiple states

From Fox News: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested more than 100 illegal alien truck drivers on California highways in Operation Highway Sentinel, launched after a string of deadly crashes linked to commercial driving licenses (CDLs) issued under Gov. Gavin Newsom’s policies.

Federal authorities said the sweep was launched after multiple fatal crashes across several states involving illegal alien truck drivers licensed in California, underscoring growing concerns that the state’s commercial licensing policies are putting motorists nationwide at risk.

Those arrested included illegal aliens from India, Mexico, Colombia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Nicaragua, Russia, Georgia, Venezuela, El Salvador and Honduras.

“Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary state policies are costing American lives,” ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan said. “His government knowingly issued thousands of CDLs to illegal aliens who had no business driving at all, let alone behind the wheel of a massive semi-truck. These drivers get their licenses, leave California, then terrorize roads all over the country.”

In a press release on Tuesday, ICE said 101 illegal aliens truck drivers were arrested in the operation which took place throughout California.

This comes as illegal alien truck drivers have caused multiple fatal accidents in California, Florida and Oregon. ICE wrote, “Operation Highway Sentinel was launched in direct response to this threat. Under Newsom, the state of California knowingly issued thousands of CDLs to illegal aliens who had no business being on U.S. roads. Many of the truck drivers who caused these fatal crashes couldn’t even read English or understand road signs.”

Another 200+ illegal alien truck drivers have recently been busted during similar ICE operations in Indiana, New York and Oklahoma.

New York Times writer Kurtis Lee published an article on Sunday, lamenting that a large number of Sikh truck drivers from India are losing their commercial driver’s licenses, and complaining about the “harassment” they are receiving over the turbans they wear on their heads.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy fired bac by posting photos of the Americans who have been killed recently by illegal alien truck drivers, and wrote: “So let me get this straight. @NYTimes is outraged that the Trump Administration, wait for it… FOLLOWED THE LAW by taking illegal truck drivers OFF THE ROAD?!

“We didn’t expect them to give us fair coverage. BUT focusing on the rights of non-citizens over the SAFETY of AMERICANS – while IGNORING the VICTIMS of these senseless truck accidents – is INDEFENSIBLE.”

In a Fox News interview, Sec. Duffy said, “I don’t understand the liberal mindset where these governors would allow illegal aliens to operate 18 ton trucks. It’s reckless. It puts American lives in danger. But I will do what is in my power to prevent the loss of lives and @USDOT will not fund states that are jeopardizing roadway safety.”
